Description:

We are looking for an individual to provide a high-quality translation service from English to Welsh/Welsh to English for Cardiff Met’s translation service and provide occasional administrative assistance to the Welsh Language Unit.

You will be an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills in Welsh and English.

What you’ll do – key duties

Translate and proof-read a wide range of documents to a very high standard to meet the requirements of our Welsh Language Standards and our house writing style.
Liaise with external translators to outsource translations when required. Ensure adequate QA of external service, monitoring for consistency and adherence to house style.
Prioritise work effectively in order to manage workload, multiple requests and challenging deadlines.
Provide regular guidance for all staff members regarding the University’s duties under such legislation by drawing up and updating Translation Guidelines, and through regular face to face meetings.

What you’ll bring – essential experience & strengths

Excellent Welsh and English language skills, written and verbal.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Rigorous attention to detail in order to maintain professional standards.
Commitment to the Welsh language.

Educated to degree level or relevant experience.
