Overview:
As our Welsh Language Officer you will support, review and develop the implementation of RNIB’s Welsh Language Scheme across the organisation to ensure that we meet the needs of blind and partially sighted people and stakeholders in Wales.

Welsh Language Officer
Salary: £36,155 per annum
Location: Wales
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week (Part time considered)
Contract: Permanent
RNIB works to remove the barriers faced by blind and partially slighted people in everyday life.
As our Welsh Language Officer you will support, review and develop the implementation of RNIB’s Welsh Language Scheme across the organisation to ensure that we meet the needs of blind and partially sighted people and stakeholders in Wales.
You will be part of the ambitious, creative and dynamic Social Change team in Wales and will work across the organisation. We’ve had a lot of success and are looking for the right person to join our team, sharing in our ambition to make a world that works better for blind and partially sighted people.
The role is home based with travel to our Cardiff office when required.
About the role
You will lead the delivery of RNIB’s Welsh Language Scheme to ensure that all relevant aspects of our work are provided effectively to our target audiences and stakeholders.
You will act as a central point of contact within RNIB, providing advice, information, and expertise on our Welsh language commitments, raising awareness of the importance and impact of this work, as well as supporting teams across the organisation to deliver the Welsh Language Scheme.
You will liaise with key external stakeholders including the Welsh Language Commissioner’s office, NHS Cymru and the Welsh Government to ensure that RNIB is involved and influencing policies and opportunities relating to the Welsh language.
What we are looking for
· Fluent Welsh language skills, both written and spoken.
· Understanding of the importance of the Welsh language within an organisational context.
· Experience of building relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to successfully deliver a Welsh Language Scheme.
· Experience of managing projects and evaluating their success.
· Ability to generate ideas and think creatively and proactively and reactively solve problems under own initiative.
