We are now looking for a Planning Officer (Graduate Trainee) to join us on a four-year fixed-term contract.

The Role
As a Planning Officer, you will undertake a post-grad training programme to develop your skills and expertise in planning and enforcement within the National Park Area.
As part of this four-year contract, you will spend two years completing a Royal Town Planning Institute Master’s degree, with dedicated study time and classroom learning integrated into your daily activities.
Specifically, you will oversee processing planning applications and enforcement cases, conduct site visits, assess proposals against planning policies, and negotiate amendments where required.
Additionally, you will:
- Investigate breaches of planning control and take appropriate action
- Prepare reports and recommendations, including drafting conditions and reasons for refusal
- Assist with registration, validation, and consultation processes for planning applications
- Respond to public enquiries via telephone, email, and in-person meetings
About You
To be considered as a Planning Officer (Graduate Trainee), you will need:
- The ability to communicate fluently in Welsh and English
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- A proactive and self-motivated approach
- A committed and enthusiastic attitude
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A full, valid driving licence
- A qualification or experience that meets the entry requirements for an RTPI-recognised Master’s course (normally a 2:1 honours degree, though non-standard qualifications and work experience may be considered)
