The Welsh Food Advisory Committee (WFAC) acts as an advisory body to the FSA.The Committee’s terms of reference, as outlined in the Food Standards Act 1999, are ‘to give advice or information to the Agency about matters connected with its 
functions including matters affecting or otherwise relating to Wales.’

Location: Committee meetings are usually held in Cardiff; however, there may be occasions when meetings are held throughout Wales.
Description:

The role of the WFAC member is to: 
• Attend meetings, visits, stakeholder engagement opportunities and other events in relation to the role
• Challenge and discuss ideas and policies effectively
• Contribute to the Committee’s consideration of the work of the FSA in Wales, including its role delivering the FSA’s Strategy
• Reflect the Wales consumer voice and strengthen the consumer perspective
• Work and behave in a non-discriminatory way in all aspects of the Committee’s work
• Participate in ensuring that the Committee fulfils the obligations assigned to it

• Play an active role in developing a forward work programme for the Committee
• Serve either without conflict of interest or to demonstrate how to deal with any 
potential real or perceived conflict.
