 Overview:

NHS Wales is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader for the position of Head of Mwy Na Geiriau and HEIW Welsh Language Unit – Band 8c. This is a national role and the successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of the Mwy Na Geiriau (MNG) Plan, shaping a national approach to integrating Welsh language services across health and social care in Wales and also head up our Welsh language unit. This is an exceptional opportunity to influence and drive improvements in the delivery of bilingual services, enhancing the quality of care and outcomes for individuals.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

- Strategic Leadership: Provide leadership and strategic direction to ensure the effective implementation of the MNG Plan at national, regional, and local levels.
- Policy Development: Design and implement national data standards, metrics, policies, and procedures to support Welsh language services.
- Collaboration: Develop and maintain collaborative networks throughout NHS Wales to share best practices and benchmark progress.
- Data Management: Improve data collection processes regarding Welsh language skills within the NHS workforce and healthcare students.
- Guidance and Support: Offer national support and guidance, embedding best practices across NHS Wales.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with a wide range of stakeholders to promote partnership working and ensure the delivery of the MTJW Plan.
- Training and Promotion: Oversee national awareness campaigns and training programs to promote the use of Welsh in health and social care services.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare strategic reports and briefings, analyzing complex data to inform policy decisions and service improvements.
- Welsh language unit: Overall line management responsibility for the Welsh language unit, delivery of Welsh language Services within HEIW and for the continued implementation and embedding of our Welsh language scheme.
