Information Services are looking to appoint an Academic skills development coordinator on an initial fixed term basis, to support Information Services skills development. This role will support IS colleagues in developing and delivering a programme of digital, information literacy and academic skills training, providing bilingual information on skills, materials and resources, including one-to-one support as well as creating online learning materials in Welsh and English in support of the skills development agenda including creating a new academic skills website.

What you’ll do
This job description is subject to review and amendment in the light of the changing needs of the University, to provide appropriate development opportunities and/or the addition of any other reasonable duties.
- Liaise with academic and professional services staff to create an easily accessible online presence on the AU website for students and staff to access information on digital, information and academic skills services, training and support.
- Promote digital, information and academic skills services, training and support to various stakeholders through different means including social media, engagement activities, events and talks in both Welsh and English.
- Work with Student Learning Support, the Academic Skills tutor and Information Services to organise a fully bilingual schedule of training sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Work with students and academic staff to identify Welsh language skills training requirements
- Work with colleagues to produce Welsh language resources for academic skills, both as equivalent of English language resources and as bespoke resources for those studying through the medium of Welsh
- Identify and curate ready-made materials to provide online training on digital, information and academic skills.
- Work with Careers, Information Services and academic staff on academic skills for particular student categories e.g. Postgraduate students, nursing students etc.
- Work with colleagues in Information Services to bring together skills support to ensure students can easily understand and access available opportunities and to prevent duplication.
- Ensure a consistent approach to training delivery.
- Develop, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training provision, producing reports to demonstrate performance and impact, as required, and feeding this into service improvement and development.
- Contribute to the future planning and development of academic skills provision in Information Services through membership of the Skills Group.
- Deliver training to students on digital, information and academic skills.
- Work with colleagues in IS, in Centre for Welsh Language Services and with academic colleagues to ensure a consistent service to students across all departments in the university.
- To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.
